Althaea officinalis

Plants are 4 feet tall with 1 to 2 inch pretty pink, mallow type flowers. Grows in sun or partial shade and as the name implies likes wet feet. Used for stomach and urinary tract problems, also soothes skin ailments. Mature roots were the original ingredient of marshmallows.

Germination: 10-14 days, 

Seed Planting Depth: on surface, lightly press in

Starting Indoors/Outdoors:  Start indoors 6-8 weeks before last frost. Provide 60-70 degree soil temperatures. Transplant 10-12" apart. Sow outdoors in spring when soil warms. Sow a few seeds every 4-6",  thin to 10-12" apart.

Light Needs:  Full sun to light shade

Soil Needs:  Rich, moist, and well drained

Uses:  Medicinal, culinary, ornamental, attracts bees and beneificals
